Detection of Region Duplication Forgery in Digital Images Using SURF
B L Shivakumar,Santhosh Baboo
International Journal of Computer Science Issues , 2011,
Abstract: An Image would yield better impact in convincing someone of something rather than pure description by words. Digital images are widely used in various fields like medical imaging, journalism, scientific manipulations and digital forensics. However, images are not reliable as it may be. Digital images can be easily tampered with image editing tools. One of the major problems in image forensics is determining if a particular image is authentic or not. Digital image forensic is an emerging field of image processing area. Copy-move forgery is one type of image forgery in digital image forensic where various methods have been proposed in the field to detect the forgery. In this paper a technique is presented to detect Copy-Move Forgery based on SURF and KD-Tree for multidimensional data matching. We demonstrate our method with high resolution images affected by copy-move forgery.

Journal of Biomaterials and Nanobiotechnology (JBNB) , 2013, DOI: 10.4236/jbnb.2013.43031
Abstract: Microtension test of Costa and Radius veins of damselfly wing was conducted to measure tensile strength and modulus. The specimens were classified into fresh and dry depending on when the samples were prepared and tested. Fresh samples tested immediately after extracting from the fly while the dry samples were tested one year after extraction and stored in a desiccator. Measured load-displacement response and fracture load were used to calculate modulus and strength. Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscope was used to measure the fracture morphology and cross-section of the vein. The results showed that the veins are brittle and fracture surface is flat. The average strength (232 - 285 MPa) and modulus (14 - 17 GPa) of the Costa and Radius veins were nearly same for both fresh and dry samples. The tensile modulus of the veins was 8% - 10% higher than the indentation (compressive) modulus and was nearly the same as that of human bones.

Circuits and Systems (CS) , 2016, DOI: 10.4236/cs.2016.79206
Abstract: This work proposes a novel nature-inspired algorithm called Ant Lion Optimizer (ALO). The ALO algorithm mimics the search mechanism of antlions in nature. A time domain based objective function is established to tune the parameters of the PI controller based LFC, which is solved by the proposed ALO algorithm to reach the most convenient solutions. A three-area interconnected power system is investigated as a test system under various loading conditions to confirm the effectiveness of the suggested algorithm. Simulation results are given to show the enhanced performance of the developed ALO algorithm based controllers in comparison with Genetic Algorithm (GA), Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO), Bat Algorithm (BAT) and conventional PI controller. These results represent that the proposed BAT algorithm tuned PI controller offers better performance over other soft computing algorithms in conditions of settling times and several performance indices.

Abstract: The new binuclear niobium(V) complexes of the type [[NbO(L)C4H4O6]2C4H4O6] (where L?=?DMH, IMH, IPH, FPH, TMT) were prepared with biologically important drugs and characterized by using elemental analysis; IR, 1H-NMR, and UV-Vis spectral studies, and thermogravimetric analysis. The molar conductance measurement of all the complexes in DMF solution corresponds to 1?:?1 electrolytic nature. All complexes were of the pure diamagnetic character and were found to have six-coordinate octahedral geometry. The antimicrobial activity of these complexes has been screened against two Gram-positive and two Gram-negative bacteria. Antifungal activity against two different fungi has been evaluated and compared with controls. All the complexes inhibit the growth of both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria to a competent level. 1. Introduction Metal ions play a vital role in a vast number of biological processes. Niobium ions form complex species with virtually all types of neutral and anionic donors. Niobium and its compounds have a broad spectrum of applications. They are used for the fabrication of special materials for microelectronics and optics, superconductors, refractory materials, catalysts, and alloys [1–5]. As an important alloy element in steels, niobium can greatly affect the properties of a sample, such as the intensity at high temperature, the ability of tarnish resistance, and temper brittleness [6, 7]. Niobium steels are valuable constructive materials for the chemical and nuclear industries, jet and rocket engines, gas pipelines, and turbines [8]. The chemistry of the early transition metal peroxo complexes has received special attention due to their importance in a variety of biological, pharmaceutical, and industrial processes [9]. Uses of metal ions in therapeutic agents are known to accelerate drug action, and their efficacy is enhanced upon the coordination with a metal ion [10]. The antimicrobial properties of metal complexes have been recognized for centuries and have represented some of the most fundamental breakthroughs in medicinal history [11]. However, Nb(V) complexes have been limitedly studied as the biocidal agents [12, 13]. Thus, we intended to study the ability of niobium complexes as good antimicrobial agents. The present work describes the preparation of new niobium(V) tartrate complexes containing active pharmaceutical drugs (Figure 1). The isolated complexes were studied via elemental analysis; IR, 1H-NMR, and UV spectroscopies; and TGA. In view of the biological activity of the complexes and diverse coordinating ability of

Open Journal of Composite Materials (OJCM) , 2020, DOI: 10.4236/ojcm.2020.102003
Abstract: Graphene nanoplatelets (GNPs) are novel nanofillers holding attractive characteristics, including vigorous compatibility with majority polymers, outstanding mechanical, thermal, and electrical properties. In this study, the outstanding GNPs filler was reinforced to the epoxy matrix and carbon fabric/epoxy hybrid composite slabs to enrich their mechanical properties. Graphene nanoplatelets of 0.5, 1, 1.5 and 2 weight percentages were integrated into the epoxy and the physico-mechanical (microstructure, density, tensile, flexural and impact strength) properties were investigated. Furthermore, the mechanical properties of unfilled and 1 wt% GNPs filled carbon fabric/epoxy hybrid composite slabs were investigated. Subsequently, noteworthy improvement in the mechanical properties was conquered for the carbon fabric/epoxy hybrid composites.
Measurement of Vibrational Stiffness and Air Damping of Damselfly Wings  [PDF]

Journal of Biomaterials and Nanobiotechnology (JBNB) , 2016, DOI: 10.4236/jbnb.2016.73014
Abstract: A simple cantilever beam vibration test method made of biomorph and insect wing, were used to measure the vibrational stiffness and the air damping of insect wings. Vibration tests were performed in vacuum pressures to atmosphere and the wing stiffness and air damping factor were measured. The test method was found to be a viable method for measuring wing stiffness, natural frequencies and mode shapes. The vibrational deformation of the insect wings was found to be combination of bending and torsion because of unsymmetrical geometry of wing. The measured stiffness (K) of damselfly wings varied from 0.18 to 0.31 N/m and the air damping ratio ranged from 0.72 to 0.79. The undamped natural frequency (fn) at 13 kPa varied from 249 to 299 Hz and at atmosphere it varied from 168 to 198 Hz.

Abstract: We assemble and analyze a novel data set that provides evidence on the quality of decision-making by on-field umpires and teams in the sport of cricket. The decision review system, introduced in November 2009, gives teams a limited right to challenge an on-field umpire’s decision. Of the 1,201 on-field umpire decisions that were challenged in test matches by nine playing teams between 2009 and 2014, 310 (25.81%) were reversed by a 3rd umpire. Controlling for several match and team characteristics, logistic regressions show that (1) leg before wicket (LBW) and caught decisions that are ruled “out” by the on-field umpire are more likely to be reversed than decisions that are ruled “not out”; (2) for both LBW and caught decisions, home and away teams are equally likely to win a 3rd umpire reversal
